True Texas Style At Rising Star Vineyards, we blend the best of the Old World and the New - we grow eight of the finest Old World varietals and make wines in a true Texas style. The winery began operation in 2005 and we opened the tasting room in Rising Star in July of 2006 and the tasting room in Richland Springs in July of 2009. Our tasting rooms offer unique gift shops with a wide array of wine accessories, gifts and apparel to make your visits even more interesting and enjoyable. We produce Estate wines in small, hand-crafted lots, and we strive to constantly improve our wines and our ability to let the land and the fruit that we grow speak clearly and distinctively in each glass. Our goal is to delight each and every customer. Rising Star Vineyards produces handcrafted wines from estate-grown grapes and features traditional varietals and unique blends. Out tasting room and gift shop is located in one of our beautiful vineyards, just 4 miles north of Rising Star on County Road 290, 1 1/2 miles east of 183, and is open Thursday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday from 12 – 4 p.m.

Meet the Maker
Texas native, Michael Oubre first discovered wine while in college. Stumbling across a winemaking textbook in the University of Texas – Pan American library was the clincher. Like most Texas winemakers, he started making wine at home before turning professional. Oubre learned there that his favorite part of a winery was the tasting room. He enjoys visiting with his guests and exploring their palates. While selling grapes to other wineries has been easy for Oubre, reaching out to local consumers has been tougher. "We get people from Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio and from the surrounding towns like Brownwood. We've had an amazing amount of traffic from the big cities in the state, even south Texas.

2009 Chardonnay
This is a wonderful unoaked Chardonnay that is full of bright flavors, has a great feel on that palate and finishes clean with a hint of citrus.
